Compulsory insurance exemption process

According to the Swiss Health Insurance Act (HIA), all residents of Switzerland are obliged to take out basic insurance. However, certain groups of people (including students, interns) may apply for an exemption from compulsory Swiss health insurance. This exemption must be approved by the cantonal authorities. This exemption must be approved by the cantonal authorities.

GENEVA

Glarus

Contact the health insurance inspection body in your municipality of residence to apply for the exemption. If you receive the exemption, please send it to us, quoting the policy number.

Schaffhausen

Go to the residents' registration office in your municipality of residence in person and request the exemption form. Then send us the exemption confirmation, quoting the policy number.

Schwyz
